Inspired by the noble Century Plant (or Sentry Plant), which lives up to 30 years in the desert. At the end of its life, the mature succulent sends a flowering stalk 30 feet skyward. After this spectacular display, the entire plant dies. Such noble sentries surrounded me as I hiked deep into the Grand Canyon, reminding me that some displays of beauty are truly once-in-a-lifetime.
With a crescent moon emerging from a pattern reminiscent of a crop-circle documented the year I was born, "Longevity" was painted as I approached my 30th year, with a prayer for long life and a sustainable artist path.
