Step 1. Choose Your Size and Materials to Determine Price

The price of your artwork is determined by its surface area (height x width), and by your choice of materials:

• Acrylic Painting on Canvas ~ $2.75 (CAD) per square-inch

• Acrylic Painting on Quality Paper ~ $2 (CAD) per square-inch

• Drawing / Ink on Quality Paper ~ $1.50 (CAD) per square-inch

You may wish to add on optional materials that will elevate the value and visual interest of your artwork:

• Mixed Media Inclusions (collage / metal leaf / iridescence) ~ $1 / square inch

• Refinement in Oil Paint (recommended, see below) ~ $1 / square inch

MINIMUM PAYMENT: $100

Examples of Artwork Pricing (height x width x material cost)

• 16” x 20” Acrylic Painting on Canvas ($2.75/inch) = 16 x 20 x 2.75 = $880

• 8” x 10” Drawing on Paper ($1.50/inch), with gold leaf ($1/inch) = 8 x 10 x (1.5 + 1) = $160

• 5” x 7” Acrylic Painting on Paper ($2/inch) finished with oils ($2/inch) = 5 x 7 x (2+2) = $140

Things to consider when choosing your materials:

• What look are you going for? Drawings combine precise detail, gestural mark-making, and clean negative space. Acrylic paintings are versatile, achieving a variety of textures. Oil paintings have a timeless beauty and tend to age gracefully. Collage highlights the one-of-a-kindness of your original artwork, while metallic accents give it a “wow” factor.

• Do you plan on framing your artwork? Works on canvas do not require a frame, as their edges will be painted. You can always frame the canvas later. Works on paper can be hung in a myriad of ways, but a frame is the best protection for its longevity.

• Shipping cost, flexibility and durability: Works on paper that can be rolled are easier to ship, frame, and store. Works on canvas are more durable, and can support thicker layers of paint.

• When do you need it done? Oil paint can take 6 months to cure, while a drawing can be ready to ship right away.

• What does oil paint add to an acrylic painting? Greater depth and richness of color. An extra layer of refinement using transparent glazes, blending, and fine details. The painting looks much more expensive and elegant. It also adds time to the process, and may require several months before it can be safely shipped to you.

Step 2. Complete the Questionnaire

Below these instructions, you’ll find a questionnaire designed to give me an understanding of:

• AESTHETIC: Your personal taste, what you value, what you find beautiful, and what aspects of my style you want to see in your painting.

• INTENTION: The purpose you want this artwork to fulfill. Is your intention is to fill a particular wall-space? To celebrate an important occasion? To honour someone who’s passed on? To manifest an unspoken dream? To remind yourself who you are everyday?

Based on your responses, I will begin to conceive of a work of art to match your aesthetic and your intention.

You may think you don’t have a preference or an intention in mind, but I encourage you to give this some thought. The more honesty and specificity you put into this step, the more likely you will fall in love with your painting!

A note on SOURCE MATERIAL: While I am willing to incorporate portraits of specific people if it fits the concept, I do not paint reproductions of photographs. I create dreamscapes that reflect the spirit behind physical appearance, and will produce an original image from the heart (for your approval before I begin painting).

Step 3. Pay your Deposit

After submitting the questionnaire, you can secure you position on the waitlist by paying your deposit.

On the homepage of my Boutique, you will find a product listing called “Custom Artwork Initial Deposit.” Simply add this product to your Shopping Cart and complete the payment.

Depending on the size of your painting, a subsequent deposit may be required, to make up 50% of the total price. In this case, you will receive an invoice with my initial email.

Step 4. Schedule a Call

Once I have received your questionnaire responses and your deposit, I will send you an email to schedule a short video call. This is our chance to meet face-to-face, and answer any lingering questions before I begin designing the artwork.

Step 5. Approve the Source

After sketching out some ideas and refining the composition, I will create a SOURCE (a digital mockup of the painting) for you to approve. This image will give you an idea of the color palette, arrangement of visual elements, and overall feeling. It will NOT capture the texture of the paint that creates artful transitions between elements.

Only One Do-Over: If you do not approve of the Source, we will discuss the necessary changes and I will create a new Source. At this point, I can take suggestions on minor adjustments, but cannot change the overall direction. If you are unsatisfied with the Sources I’ve proposed, I will reimburse you for the deposit.

Once I have received your approval, I will begin painting, and the composition cannot be changed.

I will send you in-process photos, so you can see how it’s coming to life. Slight adjustments can be requested at this point, to ensure it is finished to your liking.

Step 6. Receive your Painting!

Once the painting is complete, I will ship it to you as safely as possible. You will receive a photograph of the

The cost of shipping (with tracking number and signature) is included in the total price of your artwork. Any import tariffs for international orders are your responsibility to pay.

Packaged with the painting, you will receive a signed Certificate of Authenticity, a handwritten note, and an invoice for the remainder of the balance (payable upon delivery).

Step 7: Enjoy your custom artwork!
